TOUCHING THE INTIMACY

In front of the sea, arises a project that extends in time and space in which I explore my relationship with nature, my body, and my emotions.

In Lanzarote I created a deep and present dialogue, where I caressed the intimacy of the water, of the volcanic rock that not long ago was born from the sea. A conversation between the young skin and the old earth. An ephemeral poetry that erodes the black sand through the movement of my body, of my decisions as a human being.

Lanzarote was created more than 15 million years ago, as a volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean. But in 1730 the Timanfaya volcano exploded, leaving constant eruptions on the island for 6 years. A quarter of the island was formed after these eruptions, specifically the black sand beach where the performance Touching the Intimacy takes place, arose as a result of this geological event.
The lava that dried up, and formed the island, also began its erosion by the movement of sea water, leaving tiny grains of black sand eroded over the centuries, closing the cycle of birth and death of the rock. A cycle, with a beginning and an end, like the existential dialogue between my body and the earth, my skin and the water, which is written where the ocean that seems ephemeral is more eternal than the rock it destroys.  A poetic construction of the very experience of living through the senses and dying through time.

My body is born and dies in movements intimately conjugated with the sand that has played with the water for centuries. The sand that is eroded by the constant rubbing of the waves, remains with the imprint of my hands, of my back. In the erosion of time, even the largest rock will disappear.
